Basic answers so far:
1 – No. Only those who meet our submission deadline of 25 Jan will be eligible for the café circuit. Of course there will be a few late entries in the week following, and we’ll let them in too. But we have to stop that at some stage (preferably end Jan), so that we can get the MAPP finalised. For the really late entries, we will have a small section in the opening night venue, called One Night Stand, where they can exhibit their main body of work during the opening night party, and not be part of the café circuit. Alternatively they can just add photos to the Open Wall, which will also be part of the Opening Night event.
2 – Keep in mind that those who are part of the café circuit will have “teasers” made for them, showing the one or two pics plus some info about them plus details of where their main body of work is exhibited, to be put on the walls of the opening night venue. So for the café circuit peeps, their main body of work should be up on the 22nd already (in the cafes), and we’ll have the preview/teasers up during the opening night event. This is one reason why we ask for electronic format files of some of their pics as well, so that we can design their teasers. For the One Night Stand people, we’ll keep submissions open until maybe a week before the opening night. For the open wall people, there is no deadline, since they just bring their work with them to the opening night event.
3 - Opening night = 22 02 2008.
Thanks for these questions, they are all very valid, and they help me to set up the required documentation to help in the near future .

in honour of all people loving photography, this year MOPP wants to invite 200 photographers in the biggest free exhibtion in cape town we will construct a wall 20 to 40 metrs long and invite photographers to come and exhibit with us for a day of celebrating photography, less rules more creativity ---
the idea is borrowed from an exhibtion a friend of ours put together in sweden, he based it on a exhibtion that was the norm in the 80´s with some artist in the sweden, they called it PLAKAT (roughly translated to poster) we will be calling it OPEN WALL ---
the is a bit of work that nneds to be done before i get to RSA, like contacting a contractor company to check on prices for the rental of Scaffolding and plie wood boards-- 2m X 5m ---- rental will be the best as we will only need it for a weekend,
if anyone that is reading this can assist please do so , but please use the wiki as a link to all others so we can us e the power of the group.
on the admin side we will need a registration team for the day of the exhibtion, every person that goes on to the wall will be asked to register as to form part of the book to be made of the day event ---
music and entertainment, food and refreshment will aslo need to be sourced out -----
media and getting the word out is essential,
where u see u can help or buff up the idea, please share

"am interested in exhibiting. How does it work" i will be updating the the wiki with info to the OPEN WALL --- its rather simple this one, on the day u will bring ur images to the exhibtion and we will register u and will put them on the wall its a happening in breaking down the walls of institutional exhibtions --- will keep u in the loop with progress.

Greetings!
If you can make it to town on Friday night, then drop by Carnival Court's balcony, for a discussion on MOPP 2008. Everyone is invited.
Get an idea of what's involved, see some other people who are interested in making the exhibition happen, and add your part to this collective effort as well!
Carnival Court is the backpackers above Long Street Cafe. The entrance is off Long Street - you have to press the buzzer to get through the gate, then up the stairs, and through the bar onto the balcony.
Stiek uit!
Francois (me is the one who is that whitey with the dreadlocks)

This wiki is great. Just a few concerns about the copyright on material and licensing images for commercial use. Got badly burned by the M&G who appropriate over 2 years of wholesale, without so much as a penny being exchanged. Now I'm in the unfortunate position where I'm having to pay just to get published, and like I always say, access to information should be free, if you sell it, that's another matter...

it might not be possible to control the copying of images on this public wiki... it requires special design, something that isn't normally available on public wiki's...
I'll be looking into building a proper mopp website soon, with specifically that feature in mind... you're right, one should be able to see the image at max quality, but david and the native soul are also right in protecting the spread of their images (or at least having that option of doing that available to them).
So i will look into the options in wetpaint, but i'll also be looking into hosting a proper self-managed website for us soon :)
by the way, come to carnival court on friday (9pm-ish) to chat about this and mopp2008 !
f :)

The new theme like the others before , has no one definition, program or manifestation.MOPP is social construction and has been up for deconstruction every year with the interaction of the new and old practitioners of the medium.Photography is both an art medium and a mass medium and its a number of other. In the coming weeks i will post the idea and wish list for the coming MOPP, keeping in mind that we have the anexxe for the month of Feb 2008 -
things to think about in the mean time, is HOW CAN I HELP,
