Getting StartedThis is a featured page

The idea behind a wiki is that anyone can edit anything, any time. So if you see a mistake, or if you want to add some information, you can do that in a few clicks.

Create an account

To get started, firstly, you need to create a WetPaint.com account. You can click here to do that. You'll need to give them some basic information about yourself, but feel free to lie, they don't validate your email address. It would be a good idea to remember what lies you told in case you forget your password and they ask you to confirm your DOB, etc! :)

Login and edit

Once you've created an account, you need to log in.

When you're logged in on the site, you'll see a button at the top of each page which says "EasyEdit". Just click on that button to start editing the page. Easy as pie.

There's a tool bar at the top (a box with lots of buttons) if you want to change fonts, make lists, add links, and all that other fancy stuff.

Save your changes

Once you've finished your edit, click the "Save" button in the toolbar. That will confirm your changes and save them back to the server.

When you click save you'll see a window which lets you add a summary of what you've changed. This helps people to understand how the page has evolved over time.

Basic layout

The screen is split into four major sections.

  1. The header - the bit at the top of the screen with the headings and so on
  2. The left hand column - This is where you find most of the links to navigate around the wiki
  3. The content (central) column - The page content, the edit links, discussion on the page, and so on. The goodness.
  4. The right hand column - Here you'll find links to do stuff to the current page, so add discussion, email the page to people, etc, etc.

Fearless

Above all else, free yourself from fear. All edits can be undone. That's the beauty of a wiki. If you completely break something, two clicks and it's back to the way it was. Easy peasy. So don't worry, go nuts, let your creativity run wild! :)

More help

If you get stuck or you have questions or something isn't working, you can call Callum on 076 886 7647 or skype callum.macdonald. I'm normally online most of the day, so I can probably unbreak something there and then if necessary. :)
